The idea and vision behind all this is to create a system with all the tools available to the student during a lesson as if we were sitting right next to each other. Learning from each other has been shown way more effective, so by combining an old system of learning with a new way to deliver it, The Musician's Edge was born. There has been several advances in the way we communicate and using those advancements for knowledge is key. As we continue to grow so does the world around us, as technology evolves and things we create get better so will this site. Thank you for stopping by and I hope you find The Musician's Edge useful to you during your quest for knowledge.
Freddy Hernandez
introduced himself to the world of music by picking up the trumpet in 1987 and has been playing it for twenty five years now, drums for seventeen years, and the guitar for twelve years. In his early years, he chose to continue in this path of music by attending Texas A&M University - Commerce in Texas from 1995-1999, pursuing a music education degree. At TAMU-Commerce, he was involved in ensembles such as the TAMU-Commerce Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, and Marching Band while gaining one of the best educations at an institution geared and focused on its students becoming teachers.
At age sixteen, he decided to audition for the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps (a youth only music organization, ages 14-21) and continued this life changing experience by performing with the corps from 1994-1999. With this extensive training, he dove into the realm of teaching by joining the staff as a Trumpet Technician from 2000-2006.
In 1999, Freddy became a cast member, performer and soloist for the 2001 Tony Award Winning Broadway Musical entitled "Blast!" He has toured and performed in various cities all over the world, including a 6 month run in London England from November 1999 until May of 2000, the Broadway Theater in NYC from April - September of 2001, touring into Canada, Switzerland, and a US National tour from September of 2002 until December of 2004. Blast has allowed the opportunity to perform the show in Japan from 2004-2009, including the spin-off show called Blast II M.I.X. (Music in X-treme) in the summer of 2006 and 2008.
When he is not performing, he has been living in Laguna Beach, CA as a Music Educator at two institutions in Southern California as well as in-home private instruction. He specializes in the private instruction of brass instruments, guitar and drum set at the "Lifetime Performing Arts Academy" in Aliso Viejo and also at the "School of Dance and Music" in Redondo and Hermosa Beach. "Watching a student evolve and grow into the musician he desires to be is a passion that I have and am always willing to help those dreams come to life."
